The Basics of Meta Tags and Title Tags - Effective SEO
There are a multitude of tips out there on how to improve your SEO, but the single most effective thing to do, first is add a title and secondly, add a description tag to every page. The title tag is critically important but as for the description tag, it is just good SEO Practice.
Filling a page with a ton of keywords on your site no longer effects search engine results. If someone claims that it does, that person is stuck in the 1990's. There isn't some magical formula for keyword density to get better search engine placement. In this day and age it boils down to quality content. If you create quality content, you will be recognized for it and rewarded appropriately. Instead of focusing on cramming keywords into an article, focus on writing the article that is captivating to read.
Place the tags below between your head tags on your page using your favorite text editor or if you have a content management system you will need to refer to the user guide. Be sure to keep it simple yet concise!
<title>Your Page Title Here</title>
<meta name="description" content="This is the description of your page" />
<meta name="keywords" content="Insert, related, keywords, comma, separated" />
</head>
This is an easy task for those who have wordpress blogs or custom websites. However, if you are using a free blogger account, you will not be able to effectively add description tags. So now when someone searches google, your search description will be decided by google.
